How to stop a raid in Minecraft
New mechanics in Minecraft, raids were introduced with the 1.14 Village & Pillage Update. A raid, simply put, is an in-game event involving an attack on a village by various mobs. It gets triggered when a player with a Bad Omen status effect sets foot in a village.
So, how to stop a raid in Minecraft? The simple answer is to kill all the enemies that attack you in waves.
However, Minecraft is one game where nothing is as simple as it sounds. Continue reading to find out how to prevent a Minecraft raid from getting started in the first place and what to do when you do find yourself in the middle of a Minecraft rode.
How to End Minecraft Raids
Pillager raids are among the coolest and most frightening new additions in Minecraft ever. During a pillager raid, raiders will collectively attack a village with only a single goal in mind—to kill as many villagers as possible.
Preventing a pillager raid is a lot easier than ending it once it starts. Which begs the question—how you can prevent a pillager raid?
The answer is simple. Just don’t enter a village with the Bad Omen Effect. In case you have recently decimated a Pillager Captain (the one having a banner over his or her head), chances are you have got a Bad Omen on you.
Open your inventory to check whether you have been slapped with a Bad Omen or not. If you got a Bad Omen, a raid will start on its own if you enter a village.
But there’s some good news. You can get rid of the Bad Omen by drinking milk. After that, you can safely enter a village without worrying about triggering a pillager raid.
But what if you are already in the middle of a pillager raid?
Well, that can be a tough situation to be in. So there’s a good and a bad way to end a pillager raid.
The good way—yes, you guessed it—is to kill all the enemies. Of course, that’s easier said than done. But you can take heart from the fact that it is not something that’s unattainable.
You can start by building defenses and lava traps. Both these strategies help prevent raiders from killing villagers.
In case the raid has glitched and you’re unable to spot enemies, give ringing the bell a try. Doing so, will make the enemies glow, making it easier for you to kill them.
Now, let’s check out the bad way. As a matter of fact, there is more than one bad way to end a raid, none of which is survival friendly.
You can opt to have the villagers completely wiped out. This will put the raid to an end. As said earlier, it’s hardly an ideal solution.
Another option is to run a command to de-spawn the mob. Doing so will end the raid automatically. To de-spawn the mob, set the game mode to peaceful. For this, you can use /difficulty peaceful command. Alternatively, you can change the difficultly level in the settings. After you’ve got rid of the Bad Omen effect, you can change the game difficutly once again.
There’s one more method. And that involves turning the raids completely in Minecraft. You can do so by running the following command:
/gamerule disableRaids true
This command will not only end the present raid but also prevent other raids from happening. To be able to run this command, you will have to enable cheats. If your player mode is set to survival single-player, simply open to LAN and then allow cheats.
